Wall Panelling... Eventually

I have to confess to having had a mostly renovated hallway for well over a year now. It is a lovely wide hall with an archway half way and boarding from the dado rail to the ceiling. There are new hardwood floorboards which are so smooth and chocolately we haven't had them sealed as yet - I kid you not.
All we are waiting for is some pressed tin to line the ceiling which has a nasty patch where the builder's son stuck his boot through from upstairs. Its not a big job but it's not on the "To Do" list as yet. I am hoping that writing about this will help make it happen. Meanwhile here are some other nicely detailed, finished paneled rooms which I am inspired by. It really is a good look.

  1. Your hallway sounds amazing - I look forward to seeing the end result. I also have a "patch" in the ceiling from my sons foot going through the attic floor. I never got around to painting it - so much to do and not enough time. All the best, Lori

  3. The wall above the rail in the second picture looks like carefully preserved found-under-the-wallpaper ~ interesting!

I put up very simple panelling in my entrance hall and am contemplating more: it's such a great way to add detail without going gussy. Have you seen Chris Kaufman's blog, she is the queen of panelling : http://chriskauffman.blogspot.com/2009/01/recessed-panelling-101.html

    Long live the chop saw!

  5. Nothing like blogging about a project to give you the push to get in and finish it - particularly if you promise to show all the befores and afters. I'm finding this method of motivation quite successful so far! Would love to see your hallway, I'm betting it will look fantastic. K xx

  6. Hmm, I know what it's like - these things can tend to drag out, can't they? We have a nice wide hallway as well and have it on out next to be renovated list. I can't wait :)
Have a great weekend and I look forward to the finished hallway post!
